If you’d ask me to spell love, I’d write Travel, and if you’d ask me to write wonderful, I’d write Da Nang. Da Nang explorations gave us some of the priced memories from our recent trip to Vietnam in January 2024.
Located in Central Vietnam, Da Nang is a coastal city with a captivating blend of modern charm and natural beauty. From its golden beaches to iconic landmarks like the Dragon Bridge, the city promises an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. And in this blog, we bring to you some of the Da Nang itinerary suggestions that you should not miss AT ALL.
Top Attractions in Da Nang
My Khe Beach
Known as China Beach during the Vietnam War, My Khe Beach served as a popular recreational spot for American soldiers. Today, it’s one of the most picturesque beaches in Vietnam that boasts golden sands, clear turquoise waters, and a serene atmosphere for morning/evening walks. Perfect for relaxation!
PRO TIP: Make sure you do not dive-in without checking the waters. Some areas are good for only surfing.
Marble Mountains
Every Da Nang explorations travel guide recommends Marble Mountains. Why? Well, being a cluster of five limestone hills, the Marble Mountains are home to numerous caves, pagodas, and stunning viewpoints. It is quite popular for being the center of marble carving in Vietnam. Many skilled artisans have been crafting intricate sculptures and artworks from the marble found within these mountains for centuries.
PRO TIP: Keep at least half a day in and to explore the winding passages and admire the intricate marble sculptures and Buddhist sanctuaries within the mountains.
Dragon Bridge
The Dragon Bridge in Da Nang is not just an ordinary bridge; it’s also the longest dragon-shaped bridge in the world, stretching over the Han River for 666 meters. It is also a vital transportation link in Da Nang. At night, it gets illuminated with lights that make the city shine. Its unique design and occasional fire-breathing or water-spewing displays make it a must-see attraction in the city.
Son Tra Peninsula
Also known as Monkey Mountain, Son Tra Peninsula offers breathtaking views of the city and its surrounding coastline. This makes it a must in Da Nang explorations. One can visit Linh Ung Pagoda: home to the imposing Lady Buddha Statue, which is 67 meters tall. Also, Son Tra Peninsula is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including the rare and endangered red-shanked douc langur.
PRO TIP: Stay alert to spot these colorful primates, often swinging through the trees.
Han River Bridge
The Han River Bridge is Vietnam’s first swing bridge and is designed to rotate 90 degrees to allow ships to pass through. It is one of the cherished attractions of Da Nang. This engineering marvel symbolizes the city’s progress and serves as a vital transportation link connecting Da Nang’s two bustling districts.
PRO TIP: Don’t forget to watch it at night when it gets lit with colorful LED lights.
Best Places to Visit Around Da Nang
Exploring Ba Na Hills
Situated at an altitude of 1,487 meters above sea level, Ba Na Hills is a mountain resort offering stunning natural vistas and a unique French-inspired atmosphere. Take a cable car ride to reach the resort and enjoy its amusement park, gardens, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Exploring Ba Na Hills is one of the most recommended things by tourists with their list of Da Nang explorations. It is home to the Golden Bridge, a stunning architectural marvel supported by two giant stone hands emerging from the forested hills. This unique bridge has quickly become an iconic symbol of Vietnam and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Hoi An – The Ancient Town
Venture beyond Da Nang to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An, where the past whispers through ancient streets and historic buildings. You can buy a ticket and hire a guide from the tourist center directly. Then explore the well-preserved Hoi An ancient town attractions that showcase Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese architectural influences.
Wander through lantern-lit streets, explore Hoi An tourist spots and historic buildings, and savor delectable local cuisine. You can also visit silk stores and get yourself a silk dress which will be stitched within 24 hours. If you do not have much time in the city, you can choose from the ready-made options as well.
PRO TIP: While you are in the ancient town, take the lantern boat ride as well and make a wish upon the lantern. Why should Rapunzel be the only one riding a boat surrounded by lanterns?
Coconut Boat Ride
Have you seen the round coracle boats? Near Da Nang, the locals in Central Vietnam call this Coconut Boat Ride and have made it a fun adventurous ride.
You will get to see many tourists here experiencing the thrill of navigating through the coconut forest. At some places you will see a mini karaoke going on in the middle of the river. At others, you will see the people dancing on the moving coracle boats.

How to reach Da Nang from Hanoi?
If you are traveling from Hanoi to Da Nang, there are three ways:
- Flight: Direct flights from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) to Da Nang International Airport (DAD) take around 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Train: Overnight sleeper train journey from Hanoi to Da Nang with the Reunification Express takes about 14-16 hours.
- Bus: Bus services are available, but they may take longer than flying or taking the train, with varying durations depending on the route.
How to reach Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh?
If you’re planning to go from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang, again there are three ways:
- Flight: Multiple daily flights from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) to Da Nang International Airport (DAD) take around 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Train: Overnight sleeper train journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang with the Reunification Express takes approximately 17-20 hours.
- Bus: Bus services offer a budget-friendly option but again take longer than the other two options.
